Set out on an exhilarating Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing expedition using the famous Machame Route, famously known as the “whisky route”. This path boasts varied landscapes, from dense rainforests to stark rock faces, ensuring optimal acclimatization. The climax of this 7-day hike is the mesmerizing Uhuru Peak, Kilimanjaro's apex. The thrill continues with a 6-day Tanzania Safari Tours escapade. Traverse the iconic terrains of Lake Manyara National Park and the expansive Serengeti.
With the Ngorongoro Crater offering a glimpse into rich wildlife and the serene Central Serengeti amplifying the experience, this trip promises an enriching African journey. The adventure rounds off with a scenic flight from Serengeti to Arusha.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport and finish customs formalities you will proceed to arrival exit for meet and greet with your driver guide, and you will enjoy an hour drive to Arusha Town for overnight.
We depart from the hotel at 08:00am after breakfast and drive to Machame gate approximately 1:30min from Arusha, upon arrival we will finish park formalities ie registration, weighing luggage for the porters and paying the park fees then start our climb. We will be walking under big shade of the mountain rain forest, which is the second vegetation zone of Mt Kilimanjaro, often is wet and mud. We will enjoy our picnic lunch on the way.
Is a one of the long days on our climb with 4-6 hours hike with an elevation gain of 1200m/3969 feet above sea level, we will overnight at Machame Camp
We start our day around 8am after breakfast to Shira Cave camp. This is one of the days that make Machame route the most scenic route with its amazing scenery from the plants and rocks. With a clear weather we can have a good view of Mt Meru. Will be a challenging day but short only 3-4 hours walking, we will have a snack pack and have a hot lunch in the campsite, Shira camp 3900m/12’480 feet. This day will be primarily rocky path and a steep for most of the day.
In the late afternoon we will have an acclimatization walk, which will allow us to climb higher and sleep low .
After breakfast around 08:00am we will start our day by walking on high moorland, the landscape changes the entire character of the trek. We traverse the southwest side of Kilimanjaro, passing underneath the Lava Tower and the final section of the Western Breach and finally reach camp at Barranco camp 12’795 feet. We will have our lunch at Lava tower with altitude of 4600m/14720 feet then heading down to the Barranco 3950m/12’640 feet for overnight; this will allow us to acclimatize by climbing high and sleeping low. This will be long day with a walking time of 6-8hours but not too challenging terrain.
Another exciting day for the climb will be a short day but fun! Start to challenge a rocky climb (not technical) at Barranco wall popularly known as Breakfast wall, which divides us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo. Passing underneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers, we head towards the Karanga Valley 4100m/13’120 feet for overnight. Will take us only 3-4 hours to make to Karanga camp but will spend some time on the top of the wall for some fun pictures of us!
We start our day around 09:00am with a short hike of 2-3 hours toward Barafu camp 4680m/14784 feet; we will have a lunch at the camp then rest until early dinnertime before we start our challenge to the summit at mid night. This is our last night before we start our summit at midnight, thus why we need to have an early dinner and sleep early.
Altitude (4680 m/15360 ft), Walking distance: 3.5 km/ 2.2 miles, Walking time: 3-5 hours, Altitude gain: 640 m/2105 ft
We start our day at midnight by having a cup of tea/coffee or hot chocolate with a light snack then we start our final day to walk up to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, the terrain will be different from time to time but we will start with a rocky part then to zigzag scree part until we up to the crater rim at Stella point 18’864 feet above sea level, on the way we will have a view of the second tallest peak at Kilimanjaro which is Mawenzi peak.
From Stella point we will have an hour to our destination of Uhuru peak 5895m/19’340feet above sea level, takes some pictures and short celebration before we start our hike down back to Barafu where we will have our breakfast and short rest before heading down to Mweka camp 3020m/ 9842 feet.
This will be a long day with a walking time of 8-14hours from Barafu camp to Uhuru peak and back to Barafu camp. From Barafu camp we will have a physical challenge of going downhill with a total time of 2-4 hours to Mweka camp.
After breakfast we will start our final day on the mountain by 3-4 hours hike down the mountain, from the Moorland zone to Mountain rain forest down to Mweka gate.
After we finish the park formalities, we will meet our crew for the successful climb celebration and tip distribution to crew and cold. Kilimanjaro beer toasty! Then drive back to the hotel in Arusha for nice shower and celebrating dinner.
You will have a leisure breakfast at the hotel then we will enjoy about 2 hours’ drive to Lake Manyara National Park, game drive then we will drive to overnight near Ngorongoro Conservation area.
We will drive down to Ngorongoro crater floor with a picnic breakfast then we will drive back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch we will enjoy a drive to Southern Serengeti for overnight.
We will enjoy a game drive in Southern Serengeti with an optional early morning game drive then back for lunch and afternoon relaxing at the pool. Dinner and overnight
We will enjoy a leisure breakfast at the lodge then we will enjoy a drive to Central Serengeti, game drive En-route. We will arrive for dinner and overnight.
Optional full day or half day game drive in Central Serengeti. This will maximize our sighting experience dinner and overnight.
You will enjoy last breakfast at the bush then you will check out and transferred to Seronera airport to catch your flight to Arusha. Upon arrival at Arusha, you will be welcomed at the airport, depend on your flight back to states you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro airport.
